Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Here are answers to some of the questions we receive most often.

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

How far is the beach?
There are several beautiful Gulf Coast beaches nearby. Our favorite is Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, located about 20 minutes from Bass Lake Retreat. It’s a peaceful beach that’s popular with locals, making it a great place to relax and enjoy stunning sunsets. Clearwater Beach, Honeymoon Island, and Fred Howard Park are also within an easy drive.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted. Due to severe household allergies to pet dander, we maintain a pet-free home for the comfort of our family and guests who may also have allergies. Service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable laws. If traveling with a service animal, please notify us before arrival so we can prepare the home appropriately.
Is the pool heated?
No, the pool is not heated. However, thanks to Florida’s warm climate, it can typically be enjoyed year-round. Water temperatures are naturally cooler during the winter months, generally from November through February.
How does check-in work?
Check-in is quick and convenient with our electronic keypad locks. On the morning of your arrival, you’ll receive detailed check-in instructions along with your unique entry code, allowing for an easy self-check-in experience.
Can we fish and do we need a license?
Yes! Guests are welcome to fish from our private lake dock, and no fishing license is required while fishing on our private property. If you plan to fish anywhere outside the property, you’ll need to obtain the appropriate Florida fishing license before doing so.
How many cars can park at the property?
We allow up to two vehicles to park in the driveway. Limiting parking to two vehicles helps guests safely enter and exit the property while protecting our landscaping and ensuring neighboring driveways and roadways remain unobstructed.
Is smoking allowed in the property or anywhere else?
Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not permitted inside the home, garage, pool area, or on the decks. Guests who choose to smoke may do so only in the designated outdoor smoking area near the pool.
Please help us protect the property by:
• Fully extinguishing all cigarettes, cigars, and smoking materials.
• Disposing of cigarette butts in the provided receptacle.
• Never discarding cigarette butts on the ground, in landscaping, or near the lake.
• Using extra caution due to Florida’s dry conditions and elevated fire risk.
Do you offer luggage drop-off, early check-in, or late check-out?
Yes! Depending on availability, we may be able to accommodate:
• Early check-in
• Late check-out
• Luggage drop-off
Please let us know when booking or as early as possible before your arrival. These services are subject to availability and may require an additional fee.
Is the lake safe for swimming?
Swimming in the lake is strongly discouraged. While Lake Worrell is beautiful for fishing, kayaking, and enjoying nature, it is home to native Florida wildlife, including alligators and snapping turtles. We recommend enjoying the lake from the dock or by kayak while following all posted safety guidelines.
Are kayaks and fishing equipment included?
Yes! Guests have complimentary use of our kayaks, pedal boat, life jackets, and fishing poles during their stay. For everyone’s safety, life jackets must be worn while using watercraft, and all equipment should be returned to its designated location after use.
Is Bass Lake Retreat family-friendly?
Absolutely! Bass Lake Retreat was designed with families in mind. We provide a pool with a slide, kayaks, fishing, games, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs, and a variety of baby and family friendly amenities to help make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
